The general rythmn of the Thursday night classes in Cambridge is:
- Fitness exercises Tai Chi style class (6.30-7.10pm)
A series of preparation exercises excellent for loosening and strengthening but without learning a sequence of Tai Chi moves; suitable for everyone. These movements are based on the principles of Tai Chi. This particular sequence taught to me by Dr Chi Chiang Tao. I recommend this class if you plan to learn the Tai Chi form. - Tai Chi Mini Form (7.15-7.55pm)
Tai Chi mini form is a very brief 18-movement form (approximately a three-minute sequence). In modern times it is a starting point for learning Tai Chi proper. It is taught in six sections over six weeks. The cycle rotates continuously throughout the year. - Tai Chi advancing class (8-8.45pm)
Tai Chi short form is a 37 movement form (approximately an eight-minute sequence) and we sometimes explore an alternate style. In September 2025 we started the 'Short Form' of Dr Chi Chiang Tao. It is very close to his teacher's (Cheng Man Ching) form. Beginners can start in September and thereafter the class is open to students with some experience.
